Toolson Family Adventures

Since it’s been so long since our last update, we thought we’d share a quick list of things we’ve done in the past few months.

• Jake participated in a Duathalon (2 mile run, 7 mile bike, 2 mile run)
• Celebrated Tyler’s 4th Birthday
• Played outside
• Planted a vegetable garden
• Visited grandmas and grandpa in Southern California
• Found out our 3rd child, a girl, is due August 8th
• Went on lots of play dates with the kids
• The kids got sick way too much
• Celebrated our 6 year anniversary by installing hardware on our kitchen and bathroom cabinets
• Played outside some more
• Jake completed a 1/2 marathon with friends finishing it in 1 hour 57 minutes.

This first video is of Tyler and me playing catch followed by Kaitlyn showing off the house Santa brought her.  Apparently at about the 1:00 mark, some midget-fairy came into the room and started talking for a few seconds, in case you were wondering whose high-pitched voice that was.

Tyler is obsessed.  With what?

It’s not Friends (overrated), Seinfeld, Star Trek (phew again), Desperate Housewives (worst acting ever), Lost (yawn), or even Prison Break (has sucked royally these past couple years).  It’s not a reality show (which eliminates 90% of all other possibilities).  It’s DORA THE EXPLORER!

Since having served and lived in Holland (aka Netherlands, home of Amsterdam), I was able to learn Dutch.  I always thought it would be pretty dope to have my kids learn at least a bit of it so that we could make fun of other people and they wouldn’t understand us.  Unfortunately, I haven’t taught him any Dutch which is probably due to the fact that I never have an opportunity to… Read the rest »

Tyler enjoys many things in life. But like his dad, he seems to have a toy of the week. Lately, it’s been phones. In this first video, Tyler is sitting in a cat carrier(new and unused) gabbing away. It reminds me of a Chinese business executive – fast talking, hard to understand, no questions asked, but gets the job done.

Kaitlyn is in the drool/stick-my-feet-in-my-mouth stage which means she keeps herself pretty occupied. Tyler enjoys keeping her happy as well so we look forward to when they will be able to play together. That day can’t seem to come soon enough.
