For memorial day, we invited a few friends over to BBQ, play some whiffle ball, and of course let the kids play. The weather could have been a little better, but the food was good and we enjoyed ourselves as did the kids. We setup the slip-n-slide for the first time ever and even though we didn’t have a hill, they still enjoyed it! When shopping for food and drinks, I always like to ensure that there’s extra as I hate it when we run out of an item or there’s not enough of something. Sure enough when everything was over, we had no less than 48 soda’s left over, a tub of cookies, plenty of side-dishes, and enough hamburgers … Read the rest »

Enjoying the Weather
I had Tyler help me pull weeds and everytime I do, I vividly recall my grandpa always encouraging me to “go pull weeds outside” if I was “sooooooo bored”. I never followed through with his suggestions but now understand the importance of weed pulling. Tyler hasn’t yet realized it’s not all that fun – infact, he looks forward to it because he gets to wear gloves and follow me around.
After we were done pulling weeds, the kids played together in their power wheel. After driving Tyler around, Kaitlyn drove solo and really seemed to enjoy today more than ever. I’m not sure why either. My guess is every time she turned and drove past our home, she was pleased … Read the rest »

Dollhouse
Today we pulled out Lindsey’s dollhouse from when she was younger and the kids painted it Kaitlyn’s color of choice – purple. Kaitlyn really enjoyed being able to paint whatever and however she wanted. Tyler kept trying to paint everything but the sides purple even though we were hoping to save the roof and keep it it’s natural color or paint it white. The colors aren’t really a natural choice, but they are appealing to the kids especially since they picked them out themselves.
Hopefully we’ll finish painting and cleaning it soon after which we’ll place all the furniture inside.… Read the rest »

Last day of work
I have taken on a new job where I will no longer have to deal with a 2 hour daily commute. No longer will it be such an effort for Lindsey and the kids to visit me in the office once a week. My new daily commute time is 2 minutes and I couldn’t be happier.
Tyler isn’t happy about this new change though as there were times where after Lindsey and the kids would visit me in the office, Tyler would stay with me and ride the light rail home. He looked forward to this every week and it was always fun to watch how excited he would get when riding it home with me. Well to celebrate my … Read the rest »

2 Videos of the kids playing
This first video is of Tyler and me playing catch followed by Kaitlyn showing off the house Santa brought her. Apparently at about the 1:00 mark, some midget-fairy came into the room and started talking for a few seconds, in case you were wondering whose high-pitched voice that was.
As was mentioned earlier, I taught Tyler how to ride his bikes without training wheels Thanksgiving day 2009. At the time, he had a small beginners bike and a bike that was slightly too big for him. Even though he could ride both on his own, the small one was falling apart and the only way for him to dismount from the bigger bike was to fall off it completely. … Read the rest »
