14 of us – 2 of them

I reported to my Jury Summons on Tuesday.  Having never been summoned before, I didn’t know what to expect therefore I went in with a clear and open mind.  Upon arriving at the courthouse I saw around 300 people who, just like me, were summoned for Jury Duty.  I filled out the generic questionnaire, dawned my name badge, and waited.  To better explain the waiting process, a cakewalk comes to mind.

As a kid we would always attend our elementary school’s fair/carnival.  I vividly remember always bypassing the cheesy fishing games, bottle games, and other corny games because I knew that the cakewalk had much greater dividends.  You got a cake as a prize – who doesn’t want a cake? Tyler : Dude, Businessman, Money Maker

Tyler enjoys many things in life. But like his dad, he seems to have a toy of the week. Lately, it’s been phones. In this first video, Tyler is sitting in a cat carrier(new and unused) gabbing away. It reminds me of a Chinese business executive – fast talking, hard to understand, no questions asked, but gets the job done.

Kaitlyn is in the drool/stick-my-feet-in-my-mouth stage which means she keeps herself pretty occupied. Tyler enjoys keeping her happy as well so we look forward to when they will be able to play together. That day can’t seem to come soon enough.

On Sundays, Tyler goes to nursery for 2 of the 3 hours. He absolutely loves at and so do … Read the rest »

Tyler turned 2

On February 10th, Tyler turned 2 years old! We counted this birthday as his first official birthday because he actually knew what was happening. Well, he understood he was receiving cake, presents, and lots of attention that is. He’s still picking up on lots of words and phrases so we have to be careful. Ok, I Jake, have to be careful although I’m not sure he knows who I am anymore. I am no longer “dahdah” but rather “dude”. Yup. The best part about it is he’s the only 2 year old who calls his dad dude so there is never any confusion in public places. If Tyler can’t find me, he yells out “dude” and I come running and … Read the rest »

We’re Alive

We’re alive.

Tyler talks and has a few favorite words now: “Oh geez”, “EWWWWWWWWW”, “Yuck” and “hey dude” are my favorites. For whatever reason he is obsessed with garage doors and their intricacies. Anytime we drive by or walk by a garage, he points to it and says “garage”. I am unsure if this is a sign of intelligence or an early sign of ADD… Either way, I chop up ritalin pills and put it in his redbull every morning just in case.

Here are a few great videos of Tyler. The first one was taken one night while he was eating dinner. We turned cartoons on his TV and let him eat while we cleaned the kitchen. Next thing … Read the rest »

Kaitlyn Marie Toolson

Kaitlyn Marie Toolson was born on November 3, 2007 at 1:25 p.m. Weighing in at 9lb 4oz and 20 inches long, the experience of going through another infant has already been completely different than when we had Tyler.

Even though she was only born about 8 hours ago, she’s slept for most of the time. When Tyler was born, he probably cried 90% of the day because he was colicy. Even when we change her diaper, feed her, handle her, she’s content and quiet. She scored a 10/9 on her apghar test which basically means – she’s healthy enough to join the WNBA (not that we want her too. I’m not even going to explain why). Let’s see how … Read the rest »
