Kaitlyn is Queen, even at 3.

The other day, Kaitlyn came running up to me all flustered and said, “dad, look! There’s hair on my legs.. make it get off.”

Please let the teenage years go well. Please.… Read the rest »

Lindsey’s Birthday

When I first met Lindsey I knew right away she was a godsend as she was beautiful, selfless, mature, independent, motivated and determined.  Today, she’s magnified these qualities and attributes and is such a wonderful with and mother.  Her ability to deal with being pregnant all the while caring for the kids is astounding and unprecedented.  I’m glad to have her in my life and look forward to many years to come together.

She had prayed that the baby would decide to arrive on her birthday, granting her birthday wish true but such has not been the case.  In fact, when we went to the hospital a few days ago due to ongoing contractions, we learned that the baby was … Read the rest »

Moving, Halloween, and Birthday!

DSC_0425-550x368

We are now home owners! We finally moved into our new home the first weekend of November.  We’ve tried our hardest to unpack everything so that we don’t fall into the moving trap where boxes remain unpacked for months, years even.  The kids have made friends with the other neighborhood kids which has made it all worth it! A day hasn’t gone by where Tyler and Kaitlyn aren’t playing outside with everyone or everyone’s over at our house playing with the kids.  This has  helped Lindsey and I focus on other things while the kids play and enjoy themselves.

I’m calling this last Halloween, my first Halloween with the kids.  Last year I was in a mandatory EMT class all-day … Read the rest »

I be 3!

On February 10th, Tyler turned 3.  Each time his birthday comes around, I’m reminded of how cool I think it will be for him as the older one in grade – hopefully.  Similar to Christmas in December, with this birthday he had more of an idea of what was going on.  When asked how old he was, he’d respond “I be 2!” and now he responds “I can’t be 3, Kaitlyn is 3.”  With that said, we decided to have his birthday at Adventure Land because it has a lot of indoor activities such as bounce houses, arcades, and ball-pits.  The kids would be able to run around crazy and remain active without us having to hire some juggling clown … Read the rest »

I’m a stepfather of twins!!

When Tyler was first starting to talk, he would always call me “dude” and it never bothered me. Recently, Tyler has only been referring to me as “Jacob” and when he’s feeling nice “Jake”. I think it’s because my normal daddy duties have changed dramatically – I’m no longer gone from 7 to 6. Instead I’m home all day and even when I’m working, I’m just in the other room. So I suppose instead of only spending time with me for 2-3 hours a day, he has me all day which clearly confuses him.

In public it’s especially fun to switch things up. When he refers to me as Jacob and people are eavesdropping, I’ll say, “ok Tyler, run and … Read the rest »
